Four Key Faith Practices for Living One’s Baptism

The common thread that nurtures faith formation within one’s life journey are the Four Key Faith Practices. These essential faith practices articulate a foundational spirituality that shapes the work of congregations and the lives of Christians. Faith is formed through relationships, and those relationships engage in fundamental Christian practices. These basic faith practices are evident in Scripture, church history, and modern research. It is through such practices that faith is transmitted between the generations and over time.

These conversation starters provide meaningful reflection on biblical texts and our daily lives. It helps you bond with others on the journey of faith. It also helps you in the important task of talking about your Christian faith.

Being devoted to God’s word serves as the foundation for practicing the presence of God and blessing you with faith, hope, and love. Having a special time of day to do devotions increases the regularity of this important practice in your life.

Christ tells us to serve others. By living the faith in love, we learn the value and joy of the Christian faith. Serving others reminds us of the breadth of the Kingdom of God and that our faith is personal but not private. Faith motivates us to serve the world in love.

Symbolic actions grounded in the Christian tradition throughout the year provide a beautiful and holistic way of experiencing the grace of God. As you practice rituals and traditions, continue to use the ones that fill you with peace, passion, meaning, and hope.

Loving God...Loving People...Loving Nations

Being a “Servant Church” is central to Zion’s identity. The One we worship is Jesus. He is the servant of all and calls us to a life of service. Our building looks like an asterisk on Google Maps. An asterisk points to a thing beyond itself. In the same way Zion points to the God who became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth. We at Zion intend to point to more than our location on the map. We seek to point to Jesus, the way, the truth and the life.

Issues & Dreams We Have Been Pursuing

  • Renewal of families involved across four generations, with a special emphasis on adding and involving those 30 and younger in authentic ways that value them.
  • Increase the involvement of men who would be present and active.
  • Increase the spiritual and emotional health of families and develop healthy family ministry outreach and in-reach.
  • Have events that connect, invite, and involve.
  • Have events and activities for families, cross-generational, and age specific.
  • Have clear and developed ways to inform, connect, and involve people with each other, through acts of service, and the use and expression of their God-given gifts.
  • Offer volunteer and service connections through Jericho Road Ministries.
  • Build in healthy limits to avoid burnout and enhance mentoring and discipling.
  • Develop ways for youth to be involved, valued, and becoming the future of Zion
  • Cultivate Faith Five & Four Keys in all groups. More on these practices below.
  • Cultivate opportunities to encounter Jesus and grow in knowing and experiencing God.

We are developing Cross-Generational ministry, where Jesus is at the center of generations gathering & sharing our faith together. We are becoming Church, where we are family to those who have none, healthy family for the broken, and a place of mission for the healthy family.

Questions to ask in the coming year:

At Zion there are great resources and opportunity to be a part of what God is doing to renew, redeem, and reveal His love and kingdom. There is great blessing, hope, and joy in joining with others to live and serve as the people and body of Christ. If you have not met with a pastor or council member to share your concerns and dreams for Zion and Oshkosh, please let one of us know that you would like to talk with us. We desire to move forward with you into the future Zion God has for us.
Working with you for the glory of God, and your joy!
