Lizzy – Serving in Greece

The LORD is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.

The LORD is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. -Psalm 145:8-9

Lizzy Cooley works with refugees and volunteers on the Greek island of Lesvos. Within the organization she volunteers with, Lizzy has taken the role of Member Care. She trains new volunteers when they arrive on the island, checks in on them while they are there, and debriefs them upon their departure. The primary aspect of her ministry is relationship building and wholistic care. By caring for the volunteers emotionally, spiritually, mentally, and physically, Lizzy is able to show the volunteers the love of Jesus. She ours into them so that they can, in turn, pour into the refugees. By volunteering in the refugee camp, Lizzy is building relationships with the refugees, thereby creating an opportunity for spiritual conversations with them.
